Advice on Public Relations Writing: Fleming stressed the importance of language and grammar as a public relations professional. A grammatical background previously overpowered all other skills, however, the language of the world changed drastically throughout recent years. Fleming defined a grammatical background as knowing the basic rules of english. Fleming passionately explained that over the years, audiences and rules completely changed parallel to the changing of language. Fleming said that now, “more things are acceptable and people should know basics, but ancient grammatical rules have somewhat gone extinct.” |

My Two Cents: I completely agree with Fleming and the idea that the language of the world is changing. It is no longer acceptable to shut yourself out from the realm of technology. People are required to use twitter, Facebook, instagram and other social media sites in school and especially in today's job positions. Grammar will never go extinct, however it is true that more things are acceptable. Brevity is key. The world composed of lengthy in depth text is out, and short, concise and crisp text is in. This is not to say that everyone MUST have an account on all social media sites, but what it does say is that people must be able to navigate these sites and acquainted with this new type of knowledge and language.
